On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, which are the latest generation of foldable smartphones. They also released the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which is cheaper. The new gadgets include better designs, more advanced AI integration with Google’s Gemini, and better specs. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, on the other hand, does not have the much-anticipated S-Pen functionality. Such an absence may upset power users.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is incredibly thin and light, making it Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold to date. It is only 8.9 mm thick when folded and 4.2 mm thick when unfurled, and it only weighs 215 grams. This is a big difference from the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is thicker and heavier. The cover screen of the Fold 7 is now 6.5 inches wide and has a new 21:9 aspect ratio. The primary display is now 8 inches large, which is an 11% increase over the last iteration.

The Fold 7 has a unique Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy chipset, which promises big improvements in CPU, GPU, and NPU performance over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Fold 6. This extra power is meant to support the device’s advanced AI features. The camera system also gets a big update with the addition of a 200MP wide-angle lens, which is a big step up from the 50MP sensor on the Fold 6.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s “Flex Window” is bigger and more useful, which makes the clamshell experience better. There is now a 4.1-inch cover display that goes all the way around the phone, which is a big improvement over the 3.4-inch screen on the Flip 6. With this bigger external display, it’s easier to do things like type fast messages and use new AI-powered functions. The Flip 7 is the thinnest Flip that Samsung has made so far, measuring 13.7mm when folded. It also has a bigger 4,300 mAh battery, which is bigger than the 4,000 mAh battery in the previous model.

A big issue with this launch is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 doesn’t support the S Pen. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 worked with the S Pen, but it looks like Samsung has decided not to include it in the newest generation. This is probably to keep the device’s extremely tiny appearance. In exchange for a smaller foldable experience, the smartphone maker sacrificed the digitizer layer necessary for S Pen input. Longtime admirers of the S Pen function, who appreciated how it enhanced their productivity, will likely not welcome this change.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is another foldable phone from Samsung, adding to the company’s line of foldable phones. The Flip 7 FE is an entry-level choice with a 6.7-inch primary display and a 50MP “FlexCam.” It has some design features in common with the more expensive Flip 7, but it is believed to have more basic specs, like a 4,000 mAh battery and storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB. This makes the foldable experience more affordable.

The extensive integration of Google’s Gemini AI is a key part of this year’s program. One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, is built into both the Flip 7 and Fold 7. It is meant to be aware of its surroundings and respond. Gemini Live is a major feature that is now available right on the Flip 7’s Flex Window. This lets you use voice commands to perform things like check flight details or find restaurants without having to touch the screen.

Both gadgets also let you “share” your camera on Gemini Live, which lets you get help with your eyes in real time. The new CPUs make this better AI integration possible. The goal is to make the user experience more smooth and smart, from tailored daily briefings to advanced photo editing capabilities like Photo Assist and Audio Eraser.

The new Samsung foldable phones aren’t cheap. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE costs ₹89,999 in India, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 costs ₹109,999, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 costs ₹174,999.
