New Delhi, 12 August 2025:
India’s retail inflation eased to 1.55% in July, marking its lowest point since mid-2017, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Statistics. The drop from 2.10% in June was driven largely by a steep fall in food prices—particularly pulses, vegetables, and cereals—which entered negative territory in both rural and urban areas.

This marks the ninth consecutive month of inflation easing, and economists believe it may represent a bottoming out in price trends. Still, analysts caution that inflation could gradually climb back toward the Reserve Bank’s target range by early 2026, potentially limiting scope for additional rate cuts.
