Priya Nair: HUL’s First Female CEO and MD – Her Inspiring Journey and Academic Excellence

The company announced in a filing that Rohit Jawa will leave his job as CEO and MD on July 31, 2025, to move on to the next stage of his personal and professional life.

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has said that Priya Nair, who is currently the President of Beauty and Well-Being at Unilever, will become the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of HUL on August 1, 2025. She will be the first woman to be both CEO and MD of the big FMCG company.

She will also hold a position on the HUL Board, subject to the necessary approvals. She will also still be a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive.

The company said in a filing that Rohit Jawa would leave his job as CEO and MD on July 31, 2025, to start a new chapter in his personal and professional life.

In 1995, Ms. Nair started working for HUL and performed a number of sales and marketing jobs in the home care, beauty and well-being, and personal care divisions. Because of her work, she was named Executive Director of Home Care at HUL from 2014 to 2020 and then Executive Director of Beauty & Personal Care at HUL from 2020 to 2022.

After then, she became Unilever’s Global Chief Marketing Officer for Beauty and Well-Being.

In 2023, Mr. Jawa became the CEO and MD of HUL. The company grew competitively by volume over his more than two years in charge.

He came up with the “ASPIRE” strategy, which is pushing the business to change its portfolio and channels to focus on areas of high growth demand.

Rohit has had numerous key jobs in his 37-year career, such as Executive Vice President of North Asia and Chair of Unilever China, as well as Chair of Unilever Philippines, two of the company’s most important operations, where he did very well.

Nitin Paranjpe, Chairman of HUL, thanked Rohit for his outstanding leadership, saying, “On behalf of the Board of HUL, I would like to thank Rohit for leading the business through tough market conditions and strengthening its foundations for success.” Over the past two years, the company has taken strong steps to improve its portfolio and strengthen its position as the market leader. I wish him the utmost success in his future endeavors.

Priya Nair’s Educational Background

Priya Nair, the new CEO of HUL, got her Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounts and Statistics from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics (1987–1992).

After getting her B.Com., she went to the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management in Pune from 1992 to 1994 to get her MBA in marketing. She also went to Harvard Business School and got a degree in Business Administration and Management.

HUL is an Indian company that sells fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), such as hair and skin care products, food, drinks, and cleaning supplies.
