The official website of Himachal Pradesh University was recently hacked, with pro-Pakistan slogans displayed. However, the website has now been successfully recovered. The Cyber Crime Cell has launched an investigation into the incident. The hacking caused inconvenience to students, and the authorities are working to ensure such incidents do not recur.”
Shimla: A recent hack occurred on the main website of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU).
On Monday afternoon, hackers defaced the site, using abusive language and posting pro-Pakistan slogans. However, they have since recovered the website and made it accessible.
Notably, the university had changed its networking in-charge on June 21, just days before the hacking incident. Following the breach, the university administration promptly filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell, which has already initiated an investigation. After the complaint was registered, the pro-Pakistan slogans that had appeared on the website were removed, and the website was put into maintenance mode.
The hacking of HPU’s website disrupted students’ access to important information and updates. Moreover, there is concern that student data may have been compromised. The counseling process, which had been underway, was also impacted, as candidates were receiving crucial information through the website. As a result, students faced significant inconvenience.
DIG Mohit Chawla from the Cyber Crime Cell stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the team is fully vigilant in addressing the issue.
Himachal Pradesh University Website Defaced: Pro-Pakistan Message Left by Hackers
On the hacked homepage of the Himachal Pradesh University website, a message was left by the attackers claiming to be Pakistani hackers. The message read:
“We, the Pakistani hackers, have reached here. If you attempt to attack our borders or cyber space again, be prepared to face the consequences. You have no idea how deep we can reach. Do you think you’re Superman or Iron Man? You are nothing but street rats and sheep. Remember, hackers are made in India, but in Pakistan, hackers are born. Feel the difference. We have such power that if attacked, the response will be massive. Do you think you can wipe out Pakistan in a few hours with nuclear bombs? Think again, if you do that, half your country will be destroyed. We also have the capacity to attack your nation. Your army doesn’t have the strength to stand against our pilot MM Alam. 90% of our nuclear system is based on advanced missile technology. Long live Pakistan.”
The message left behind was clearly provocative and intended to make a statement. The university’s cyber team, in collaboration with the Cyber Crime Cell, is investigating the incident. The website has been restored to working condition, and efforts are underway to ensure such breaches are prevented in the future.
